October 2009 Newsletter
Twenty-six members attended our September meeting.
The HVFRC Annual FunFly on Sunday, September 13th, was another great success. Our thanks go out to Mark King for organizing the event, Mark Schoenfield for bringing the sound system and running the grill and Rob and others for facilitating the food, supplies and scoring events. Special thanks to our sponsors Hobby Hut, ExtremeRC Addicts and Bob Dively Models. Big winner from event totals was Chris Susicke. He won an awesome electric jet donated by the Linda at the Hobby Hut. Thanks to all for your support of this event!
The temporary flight ban on September 21 through September 24th was adhered to by the membership. Thank you for your cooperation.
Email addresses have been updated and members that do not receive this message should let us know at this Monday’s meeting or by sending an email to joe@hvfrc.org or mike@hvfrc.org . Mike and I are working to make sure the entire membership can be reached. Again, the newsletter is always posted to hvfrc.org as well.
Geese season has returned and Rob is open to suggestion for ways to help keep the field clean and clear.
As you may have had the misfortune to know, the club maintains a blow-up raft for mishaps where a model may end up in the water. If you use this raft, it is important to return it clean and dry. Ask a club officer for more information about setup and use.
Some words on safety: Many members practice 3D maneuvers close in. While this is not against club rules, it is important to make sure that you perform these tricks on the other side of the flight line. The flight line is 20 feet out from the pilot stands. Also, 90 degree approaches to the pit area are banned by club rules. No members should be performing these maneuvers at any time. Further, be aware that traffic on the road to BCUA has the right of way even though it’s in our landing flight path. No vehicles should be stopping there, but cars or slow moving trucks pass by often. Be alert for this.
November is the month when any 2 year member in good standing can run for a position on the executive board. If you are interested in running for President, Vice-president, Treasurer, Secretary, Webmaster or Field Marshal for 2010, you must make your interest known at this November’s meeting. Voting takes place at the December meeting/holiday party. New member Jeff Haise was voted in.
See you at the field, -Electricjoe
