Twenty-seven members attended our August meeting.

The meeting included a discussion about our annual FUN-FLY. The HVFRC Annual FunFly has been scheduled for Sunday, September 13th, from 12:00-4:00 pm. Plenty of food and drinks will be on hand. Donations of snacks or desserts would be appreciated. The usual events will be offered and selected by popular demand including wing wars, taxi races, limbo and spot landing. Raffles, 50/50 and Prizes were discussed. Mark King will be the event coordinator and many members at the meeting offered to help with various tasks.

Returning member Mark Schoenfield was voted in. Mark S. will be bringing a sound system for the FunFly.

The following communication was received via modelers and the AMA. Thanks go to Carl for helping to get this information out to our membership.

FELLOW FLYERS,

We operate in New York Metro Class B Airspace, this FAA Flight Advisory for the NY City Area for September 21 through September 24th applies to us! This came via Gary Fitch and Rick Hanson of the AMA.

A new Flight Advisory has been received providing notice of upcoming TFRs planned for the 64th session of the United Nations General Assembly. As proposed, the TFRs will effectively shutdown model aviation in the NYC Class B airspace from 9/21 to 9/24/2009.

The following aeronautical operations are not authorized within the New York Class B airspace LGA 20 nautical mile, JFK 20 nautical mile, and EWR 20 nautical mile boundaries, from the surface, up to but not including FL180: Flight training, practice instrument approaches, aerobatic flight, glider operations, parachute operations, ultralight, hang gliding, balloon operations, agriculture/crop dusting, animal population control flight operations, banner towing operations, model aircraft operations, model rocketry, unmanned aerial systems (UAS).

So, NO FLYING at all on 9/21-9/24. A sign will be posted on the frequency board as a reminder.
